the benefits of humidity

In my book, there aren't many benefits from a constant level of humidity. Let's be honest, when you have no outdoor & no dryer, drying clothes indoors with high humidity is horrible. You also sweat doing nothing, and it is the ideal time for all microorganisms growing, yuck !

But there is one thing I didn't think about, is that when humidity levels are very high and for a long time (both these factors are very unusual here), like it's been here the last month, fungi have been growing like crazy ! We had never seen so many & so many different ones, only because it is usually so dry & hot ! I tried to capture the ones we saw last Saturday during a walk in nature.

The sudden appearance of mushrooms after a summer rain are one of the most impressive spectacles of the plant world.
— John Tyler Bonner, biologist (1920-)

Replace "summer" by "autumn" in the quote above & it's quite appropriate, isn't it ? More photos of our walk in the next post ... Until then, take care, and thank you for your visits & your comments, always ! I'm glad you like the new look of the site !
