OK, trying to be a little more regular than what I used to be …

Besides the dampness of this autumn, we can also note that it’s been a warm autumn as well (no climate change, hello, ugh ?) … flowers are still blooming, including my cosmos.

I like to cut them when they’ve freshly opened, and I love to bring them indoors where we are able to enjoy them a little more. I have them in our bathroom & in our living room. They’re small (or even, tiny) bouquets, but that’s the way I love them.

I have made two desktop wallpapers if you want to save them & use them. You can find them in the GOODIES section of the site.

Other than that … well we’re knee deep in a school exams week, and in colds, coughs & co. (me included) Nothing major though, but still very annoying when you’re in exams period. I’m also trying to finish a new version of their (activity) Advent Calendar … they are 14 & 16 now, so I have to adapt to many things, their willingness, their free time, etc … wish me luck !

Wishing you a lovely middle of the week !

such a damp autumn

I don’t think we’ve ever had Octobers & Novembers so damn damp ! It’s been raining on & off for two months, and sometimes pretty heavily, not the Parisian drizzle kind. Not the usual kind of weather in southern France ! I hope it is about to change soon, because we need the sun as well, blue skies & dry laundry ! Everything is so soaky wet !

I took some photos yesterday, after the rain, so here my favorite ones.

Raindrops all over the Ligustrum Japonicum. (Japanese privet)

Can you see our palm tree in the drop ?!

These are agatheas and they are really tiny flowers, so the droplets are really teeny tiny !

Thank you for your visit, ladies, and may the sun shine upon your village, your town, your garden, and your face !

during the holiday season

support handmadeCozy MemoriesComment

Supporting handmade businesses during the holiday season is very important, just as all year around, but around the holidays, it means more to everyone.

When you purchase from an artisan, a maker, you do not only support a family, somewhere on this planet, and your community too, if you buy local. You buy something unique, truly special, one of a kind, that you can (perhaps) get personalized to your needs.

You also help protect skills around the world, because if everyone bought machine, mass-made items, who would keep on embroidering, making ceramics, painting, woodcarving, weaving, dyeing, bookbinding etc etc ? That would be a pretty sad world indeed.

And when you decide to spend your hard earned money, you get to spend it mindfully on something that makes two persons (minimum) happy : the maker and the recepient of the gift ! This doesn’t happen in chain stores ! Your money needs to be spent wisely, and to help a family live, not a CEO get extra richer ! Your money is your way to change the world, is a way to vote for something better & more balanced.

This said, I know we can’t all afford to buy all of our holiday presents from artisans. I know I can’t. But even buying one only among them makes an extra step in the right direction.

Have you planned or considered to buy something handmade from an artisan, locally or not ? If you have makers/artisans shops/link to share, please feel free to do so in the comment sections, I would love to discover new ones !

Thank you for reading, and for visiting ! Be well !

With love,

Sonia
