Lyon : Musée Miniature & Cinéma

Todays' post is all about the one museum we went to visit : the "Musée Miniature & Cinéma". Ideally loacted in the heart of the Old Lyon (the city's historical center), the museum is housed in the "Maison des Avocats" (Lawyers' House), a framed 16yj century building that is now a UNESCO world heritage site.

I'll skip the Cinema part of the museum, and fast forward to the Miniature part. The most magical one, in my opinion. Totally worth the ticket price ! The artist / miniaturist is Dan Ohlmann & you can read his biography here on the museum's website. Each scene takes between 4 & 7 months for completing. (no wonder !!!)

Also in the Miniature part of the museum was a display with papercuttings made by artist Engelhard Schmitt. The size was mindblowing, really. Here are three of them :

That was the last of my posts about our day trip to Lyon last Saturday. I hope you enjoyed. This evening marks the start of spring school break. Break in the school runs for sure, but not in housework, I have a kilometer long of things I want/need to do, including spring cleaning & wardrobe sorting out.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, and thank you for following me along for this first week here in my new journal & website ! I'm so glad you're here !

Lyon in color : blue & green mostly

Today's photos from our day trip to Lyon (last Saturday) are mainly in the blue or green palette, but also in offwhite & metallic ones. See by yourself :

A side note about Lyon métro. I have never ever seen a métro network so clean & as it should be. (no tags on the wall, no pee in the corners, not even a debris on the ground ...) I don't know what the heck they're doing but well it's working ! It's been such a undisturbed moment to use Lyon métro ! (and not a visually & olfactively unpleasant one)

One last post tomorrow a very special museum in Lyon ... until then, take care, and have a lovely Thursday ! (or rest of your Thursday)

On Saturday 19th the five of us (my mom was coming) went on a day trip to Lyon. It's a two hour train trip for Montpellier, just perfect. It was a pre-birthday lil trip & it was a nice one.

I couldn't help but notice all the pinks that keep coming back in my photos from Lyon, so here they are for you today.

We ate a delicious brioche with pralines, we can't go to (Vieux) Lyon (Old Lyon) without eating one ! We went to a special museum in the old town, but it'll be another post. We took the Funicular to go to Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, and that'll be another post as well.

We also went to the Parc de la Tête d'Or (literally "Park of the Golden Head"), a large urban park with a small zoo & lots of space to run & walk about.

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome, it means a lot that you followed me here ! Comments worked fine for everyone apparently.

See you tomorrow for another post about Lyon !
