art is so cool !

Time is flying by & I'm sorry I haven't posted since Monday. Always that damned heat that just won't do anymore, we're all so tired of it.

Speaking about heat ... on the first day of our trip, on July 01st, we were in Paris, and there was a very nasty heatwave. Like ... it felt like being in an oven when walking on the streets. It was 40°C (104°F) in the shade ! We survived during these days (3 days of extreme heat) by going to the museums, and having AC in our hotel room.

So on the first day, we went to Centre Georges Pompidou, which is the largest museum for modern art in Europe.

I had the macro lens on my camera (and didn't bring the other one) so I couldn't get artworks in their entirety, unless I took photos with my phone. So here are extra ones, taken with my iphones.

I hope you enjoyed the little tour ... I posted more on IG at the beginning of the month, maybe you've already seen them.

Have a great end of your week & weekend ahead, everyone !

Lyon : Musée Miniature & Cinéma

Todays' post is all about the one museum we went to visit : the "Musée Miniature & Cinéma". Ideally loacted in the heart of the Old Lyon (the city's historical center), the museum is housed in the "Maison des Avocats" (Lawyers' House), a framed 16yj century building that is now a UNESCO world heritage site.

I'll skip the Cinema part of the museum, and fast forward to the Miniature part. The most magical one, in my opinion. Totally worth the ticket price ! The artist / miniaturist is Dan Ohlmann & you can read his biography here on the museum's website. Each scene takes between 4 & 7 months for completing. (no wonder !!!)

Also in the Miniature part of the museum was a display with papercuttings made by artist Engelhard Schmitt. The size was mindblowing, really. Here are three of them :

That was the last of my posts about our day trip to Lyon last Saturday. I hope you enjoyed. This evening marks the start of spring school break. Break in the school runs for sure, but not in housework, I have a kilometer long of things I want/need to do, including spring cleaning & wardrobe sorting out.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, and thank you for following me along for this first week here in my new journal & website ! I'm so glad you're here !
