birthday & Easter weekend

19blog-geumred1.jpg

Hello everyone. It’s been a couple of weeks ... my my how time flies ! My two teen boys are now on school holidays, and we celebrated my 41st birthday yesterday. Today was Easter but we don’t particularly celebrate (we’re not religious).

The garden is growing rather fast since it is warm but not too much these days (hurray !!) and rather muggy. We’re off to a rainy and very windy week, so I tried to take some precautions in order to avoid damage among my most fragile plants. The two geums (the red on top and the yellow below) are blooming these days and I love them dearly, they’re so lovely !

after the long awaited rain

We almost didn’t get any rain at all during the last 3 months ... and this time of year, the need of rain is even more necessary because it fills the water stocks for the rest of the year ! So all the rain we finally got this past weekend was long long awaited !

Problem is that we also got hail, several times actually, and I really feared for all the plants in my garden, specially all the ones I bought these last weeks ! But after checking, they were shaken but not damaged, phew !!!

With no major travel this summer by lack of budget, I decided to fill the garden with more flowers after some doing research. We have a local plant nursery that has interesting prices.

I hope to cut branches from the eucalyptus from time to time, for us or for gifting my mom or mother in law, saving us money from the florist, useless waste (from the florist) and money as well !

I hope you are all doing well. Spring is such a busy time of year for everyone. Some of you must be on spring break. Ours will start in a couple of week. Wishing you all a wonderful start to the week !

Thank you for your visit, comments & likes ! Please feel free to ♥︎ the post if you can’t comment !

Much love,

red wings

These photos are already a week old, and this time of year, I mean at springtime, a whole week can make a whole difference !

We have a Japanese maple in a large ceramic pot, and it was all bare all winter long. (as it should be, but it’s always a little sad looking) Right after the middle of March, it showed signs of buds. And every day showed progress. And in a matter of a week, all leaves were out, stretching red wings, because I really thought it looked like red birds in flight !

It’s clearly visible on the photo on top. I added other photos I took, because it’s so beautiful this time of year, I’m always amazed !

They even have little flowers that blooms just after the leaves are out ! That’s fast !!

Dented leaves, and in the sun, the red texture of the leaves look velvety, slightly shiny & glittery !

That’s really quite a show that I wouldn’t want to miss anymore !

I hope you liked it too ! Thank you for your visit ! Oh, and happy April too !
